How do I create my FenceCalc account?
Visit app.fencecalc.co and click 'Start Free Trial.' Enter your name, email, and company name. You'll be up and running in under 2 minutes — no credit card required.
What devices does FenceCalc work on?
FenceCalc works on any device with a modern web browser — phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops. No app to install. Works on iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac.
How do I set up my company profile?
Go to Settings → Company Profile. Upload your logo, enter your company name, address, phone number, and license info. This information appears on your PDF proposals.
Can I import my existing customers?
Yes. Go to Customers → Import and upload a CSV file with your customer data. We support columns for name, email, phone, and address.
Is there a mobile app?
FenceCalc is a web app that works great on mobile browsers. Add it to your home screen for an app-like experience. No app store download needed.

Creating Estimates

How do I create a new estimate?
Click 'New Estimate' from your dashboard. Select the fence type, enter the linear feet, height, and any options (gates, removal, etc.). FenceCalc calculates materials, labor, and total price instantly.
What fence types are supported?
Wood (cedar, pine, pressure-treated), vinyl, chain link, aluminum, ornamental iron, composite, and custom builds. Each type has pre-configured material lists you can customize.
How does the material calculator work?
Enter fence type, height, and linear feet. FenceCalc calculates posts, panels, rails, concrete, hardware, and fasteners. The material list is accurate enough to hand directly to your supplier.
Can I customize pricing and markup?
Yes. Go to Settings → Pricing to set your default material markup, labor rates, and minimum job charges. You can also override pricing on individual estimates.
How do I add gates to an estimate?
In the estimate builder, click 'Add Gate.' Select gate type (walk, drive, double-drive, sliding), width, and material. Gate materials and labor are added to the estimate automatically.

Customer Management

How do I add a new customer?
Click Customers → Add Customer. Enter their name, email, phone, and property address. You can also add customers directly from a new estimate.
How does the client portal work?
When you send a proposal, your customer receives a link to their portal. They can review the estimate, ask questions, sign electronically, and pay their deposit — all from their phone.
Can customers sign proposals electronically?
Yes. When you send a proposal through FenceCalc, customers can sign it electronically from any device. You get notified instantly when they sign.
How do I track customer communications?
Every email, proposal, and payment is logged on the customer's profile. Go to Customers → select a customer to see their full history.

Crew Scheduling

How do I schedule a job?
Open a job and click 'Schedule.' Pick a date, assign a crew, and set the estimated duration. The job appears on your crew's calendar automatically.
Can my crew see their schedule?
Yes. Each crew member can log in and see their assigned jobs, dates, and job details. They can also mark jobs as in-progress or complete.
How do I manage multiple crews?
Go to Settings → Crews to set up your teams. You can assign jobs to specific crews and see everyone's schedule on a single calendar view.
Can I reschedule a job?
Yes. Open the job, click the date, and pick a new one. Your crew is notified automatically. Customers can also be notified if you choose.

Reports & Invoicing

What reports are available?
Revenue by month, close rate, average job value, estimates sent vs. won, material costs, and crew productivity. All reports can be filtered by date range.
How do I send an invoice?
Open a completed job and click 'Send Invoice.' FenceCalc generates a professional invoice with all job details and sends it to your customer via email.
Can I collect payments through FenceCalc?
Yes. Customers can pay deposits and final invoices directly through their portal using a credit card or ACH. Funds are deposited to your linked bank account.
How do I export data for my accountant?
Go to Reports → Export. You can export invoices, payments, and job data as CSV files for QuickBooks, Xero, or your accountant.
Can I track material costs vs. estimates?
Yes. Log actual material costs on each job to see your real margins. FenceCalc compares estimated vs. actual costs in your reports.

Billing & Account

How much does FenceCalc cost?
FenceCalc is $79/mo or $59/mo billed annually. One plan, all features, unlimited users. Every account starts with a free 14-day trial.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel anytime from Settings → Billing. There are no contracts or cancellation fees. Your data is available for export for 30 days after cancellation.
How do I update my payment method?
Go to Settings → Billing → Payment Method. You can update your credit card or switch to ACH at any time.
Do you offer discounts for annual billing?
Yes. Pay annually and save $240/year ($59/mo instead of $79/mo). You can switch to annual billing anytime from your Billing settings.
What happens when my trial ends?
You'll be prompted to add a payment method. If you don't subscribe, your account becomes read-only — you can still view and export your data, but can't create new estimates.
